How Much Black Ink Does A Page Has?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi friends,
One of my job responsibilities includes approving fax templates that are blasted. In order to make sure that the recipient doesn't have to invest too much ink from his fax catridge - I would like to have some kind of measure that would tell me the percentage of black used on a page.It can be some small software that could calculate the amount of black on a page or something to the same effect. Hope you guys could help!
Thanks :-)
Atif

Don't do it! This is one extremely easy way to annoy customers. It's their money for receiving the fax and you may be blocking more important calls. I've blacklisted at least two companies for attempting this. It's not just the ink, but many companies don't check that they're calling a fax and not a phone line. In one case I've heard of a company trying to fax the CEO's private home office number every hour during the night for three nights. Is this really what you want. In some countries it's now also illegal.

    Don't do it!

I keep a form on my desk and fax it off to the FCC everytime I get an unsolicited fax. It takes a few minutes but I feel it may be worth it especially if the FCC got these in mass from all of us who suffer with this waste of paper and time.

The FCC can issue warning citations and impose fines against companies violating or suspected of violating the junk fax rules. If you have received a fax advertisement from someone who does not have an EBR with you or to whom you have not provided prior express permission to send fax advertisements, you can file a complaint with the FCC. You can file your complaint by completing the FCC’s on-line complaint Form 1088 at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html; e-mailing fccinfo@fcc.gov; calling 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY; faxing 1-866-418-0232; or writing to:

    Federal Communications Commission
    Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau
    Consumer Inquiries and Complaints Division
    445 12th Street, SW
    Washington, DC 20554.
    Caller ID: n/a
    Caller: n/a
    Caller Type: Fax Machine

Here is a direct link to the form you need to file a complaint.

You can fax in your complaints with this form.

I agree with not having too heavy a black coverage on faxes. I'm a graphic designer and try to be sensitive to the end user in all areas of design.

I agree with my colleagues that tying up someone's fax could rub targets the wrong way, as can computer-generated sales calls that ty up their phone lines.

guys...guys....I dont send unsolicited faxes. We fax to only those people who have agreed to receive these faxes from us. Further we dont want them to waste too much of ink. Thus I asked the question !!

Hi jay, I visited those links that you send me but they tell me the cost of ink of a PRINTER to print a page(different printers/diff layouts etc). I need something which will may be tell me that the amount of ink or black on your page is say, 38% of the total page space. Something which will let me know that my layout is not going to take too much of my receiver's ink !
    Thanks in advance!
