Advertising Budget & Scheduling

Posted by m.anderson on 250 Points
Hello,
My Advertising budget has recently been established, and I was curious to know the best way to schedule print ads for the year?

-Should I break down our efforts into 6 month intervals? So if we have $1000 a month to spend, include all ads published over the next 6 months maxing out at $6000?

As we know, for some publications the deadline may be months before the ad is live, so it gets crazy determining where the cost should apply to budget.

Hope this is clear enough. We've been planning month to month and things are getting tricky since the ad charge isn't applied until the ad goes live.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Not knowing if you do direct response ads, or something non-measurable, your budget is small enough to be easily manageable.

You can use a simple grid, January-December across the top, and the magazines (or other medium) down the left hand side. At the bottom have another line for total budget. Draw lines down and across and you'll have a grid.

Then decide what months you want to be in what medium and what your ad cost will be for each month you run, along with your key code, and ad code and put that in each box on the grid. Add the amounts together down each column and you'll have the total for each month at the bottom, and at the end of that row you'll have the yearly total.

Start three months out, given that's the lead time for most space ads in magazines and you'll have a starting point for applying expenses from your budget.

Also, make sure you check out buying your advertising through www.Mediabids.com It's a discount buying service that's free to use. When registering, check off direct marketer as type of company, you might get some extra remnant deals.

Also, if you're doing the ads inhouse, I recommend this book. https://www.nmoa.org/catalog/fisher.htm

I tried Google adSense for advertising my website, but I was not very happy with the results I got.

I googled 'opt-in email advertising' and it seemed to me that taketheinternetback.com ads delivered quite good results in terms of generated visits and conversion.

I bought 1000 email ads, from them and paid $15 for that and I got about 470 visits from them in about one week. I did sell more ebooks (my online business) and I'm quite pleased with this result.
