Summer Fragrance --in-store Event

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi all,

I need to come up with an idea for an inexpensive in-store event marketing a summer fragrance. Sampling, big pop posters, and other branding items will be provided, thats not my issue.

I am having trouble coming up with an interactive activity (or "in-store event") whereby I can get the sales reps to engage potential customers to playing some sort of fun summer activity IN STORE (perhaps even a game where they win a sample, or other small inexpensive prize). This would give the rep an opportunity to talk to potential customers about the new summer fragrance, while at the same times engaging in some sort of fun activity with him/her.

Once again this has to be faily inexpensive event as it will run in at least 45 stores.
Any Ideas?

You might try scratch off cards for winning some prize. Good involvement tactic with a bit of excitement. Here is a cheap printer of them. https://tinyurl.com/25sgqg

I think the scratch card is an excellent idea for the 'prize' after playing the game.

however, along the lines of an 'event', do you have any idea on a game, some sort of activity..keeping the 'summer' theme in mind?

How about "what summery words come into your mind when you sniff this..." and have people complete an entry form based on their sniffing of the scent sample.

You could do a national draw, or have one draw in each store, as small as a free bottle of cent, or as big as you can afford (e.g. 14 days in Cancun).

Alternatively, have them guess the key notes in the scent and if they get it more or less right they get a free 1ml sample vial, a free scratchie card, or a free entry into a bigger draw...

    Hope that helps.

You could have a big "What is summer for you?" come to the store in the ultimate summer getup...coolest look wins...

You can have a wall backdrop where the women in their summer getups could have their picture taken...

It might be fun cos people have diff summer ideas. some think of beach so their swimwear, some would go to cold places to escape the heat so a skiiing outfit would look cool too

    Here is an idea:

Create a giant fragrance bottle, with a cup in the bottom for people to drop a quarter, pearl, or other object into it. It is interactive and would keep the prospect engaged long-enough to try out the product and listen to the message from the rep.

I would give a free sample of the fragrance as a gift for whoever participates and a grand prize in each store such as win a trip to... or free gift certificate...or other.

How about a little sand box with shovels to dig in for prizes? Of course there would be the cost of the back drop to attract attention, and maybe add an option of a summer "cooler" while they dig...?

I use to work for Estee Lauder, South Africa. We handed out cards with various numbers on them - the numbers are combinations to a lock. We had a box with pieces of papers inside that has various prizes on them - to be able to draw a prize the customer had to open the lock that kept the box shut - using the combination on their card. Thus we drew people to our counters and it was very inexpensive. We had promoters handing out the cards and telling the customers what it was all about - we also had two big hampers.

I'd do something with flowers - daisy chain building, or petal collage. You can make it an event with a catch-a-white petal game (Catch-a-petal). Have a single white petal in a basket with red petals. Stand behind the competitor and empty the petals over her head. If she catches the white petal before it hits the floor she wins a prize. It's clean, non-toxic, fun and romantic and could easily draw a crowd.
