How To Effectively Market A Saas Offering

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi,

I am looking for some ideas especially from those with experience marketing a Software as a Service offering.

What are the best ways for a company providing online estate planning and settlement software to reach individual consumers?

Thanks.

Ernie

The typical ways. Viral Marketing, PPC marketing, SEO marketing. These are the primary driving forces for most successful online companies.

In addition to the methods listed above (blogs are a great way to go!), maybe you could establish mutally beneficial relationships with entities like banks, etc. that have contact w/ your target market. For example, I've heard of some businesses that organize moves for seniors--you could do some co-marketing there.

A few other options to think about are: starting your own blog (position your company or yourself as the expert and leverage the blog for PR), host informational events, create informational collateral such as "tips" sheets or how-to guides. You could offer them on your own blog and send them to other bloggers as well.

    Hi Ernie,

In addition to the methods listed above

    1) implement a referral system (a way to encourage your current customers to refer new customers to you) --more on this at John Jantsch's Duct Tape Marketing blog

    2) if you don't already have one, add a free demo or trial of your software to your site

    3) partner with other professionals who offer complementary services (such as a trusts and estates lawyer or a life insurance agent). You could do joint marketing, hold informational meetings/seminars, or refer each other to the others' clients

    4) Offer a free handbook, checklist or guide to estate planning
