Idea For "green" Event

Posted by suzq on 250 Points
We are a not-for-profit hospital and are kicking off a Prescription Drug Disposal Program for the entire community. We will also have have other health and wellness related information, activities for families/children, but the main draw is the disposal program. We need to use the acronym's of the group that developed the program, but would like to have something that would draw attention and of course something "catchy". Thanks to all!

this is a very interesting enviro hazard. At first glance when I read it, I thought it was a safety issue vs an environmental one. I was about to fire you a warning about potential greenwash. I am glad I did a bit of research and found that old advice of flushing old drugs in the toilet has created the situation where the toxins required in waste water are being destroyed-- and these drug traces are unable to be removed from waste treatment systems and passing it along to all of us. I put this in my response so others responding will know the issue.

    here are my suggestions:

Old drugs are a perscription for trouble!
Drug disposal is a perscription for trouble
    Drug Collection For Proper Disposal
    Old Drugs are environmental Trouble

I read of one instance where the drugs are incinerated and the claim is it will create energy for homes-- if that is true, how about

Old drugs, Clean Water, Clean Energy

its not catchy, but in this case, I think you should be more educational.

Thank you very much for the response. Yes, the drugs are incinerated and we are near one of the very few facilities nationwide.

I too feel it needs to be educational and appreciated the ideas!

Create a mascot "Rx" (pronounced Rex) with some theme like: "Keep Rx Safe", "Curb Rx", or "Pill-ease Keep Rx On Leash", etc.

You could create some games: a medicine bottle toss, find the expired meds (beat the clock), or even pill (non-med) arts & crafts.
