30th Anniversary Event Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Our commercial construction company is celebrating it's 30th corporate anniversary this year. We are taking one week to do the majority of our celebrating. My goal is 2-fold: Create a showy PR situation, and celebrate our success with our employees, clients, and subcontractors/vendors.

We will be doing a community service project on one day, a golf tournament on another day and a casino night for employees / clients on Friday night.

My question is this: I'm trying to figure out what type of themes we could use for the casino night and the golf tournament. Also what other ideas could we come up with for the week?

Thanks for your input!!

I would start by better defining your objectives. This sounds like something that will require significant time and money. The trouble with anniversary celebrations is, they're always so inwardly focused. It's too often chest beating that gives the owners, officers and managers some fun stuff to do but does little to differentiate a business or communicate value to customers. Generally speaking, it's best to keep these things low key.

If you must, find a very direct way to add value for customers. As I'm unsure of the nature of your constrution company or the relationship you have with your clients, let me ask are you throwing a casino night for clients thanking them for their business? Is this something they're really going to appreciate, or will they attend out of a sense of obligation? Have you identified a service project? A little more info might help sort out how you can connect golf and gambling to construction.

Casino Royal. You could have men wear Bond attire and women dress like a bond girl. If staff is uncomfortable with that you could hire or have theater actors dress as movie characters. Pictures could be taken with these individuals. If you have a casino in your area work with them to get staff to "work" since they know the games. Wherever you have the casino theme party make sure it looks and feels like a casino...that wow factor when you walk into any casino.

Golf Outing...what about night golf? Start the outing with appetizers, beverages, entertainment. Golf then end the evening with a late dinner with music and dancing outside (in a tent). Make everything glow in the dark.

For the week, you could do a scavenger hunt around your city. Make all your questions themed around the number 30. You have teams working together. At each location they pick up a piece of a puzzle with their next clue (or you could give all clues at the beginning). Once all questions are answered they should have X number of puzzle pieces to put together. The picture could be a photo of your company or something meaningful.

These are a lot of work, but so worth it. Good luck!!

How about a theme that builds good will into the community - because that is the easiest way to build positive media exposure -- try donating some of the proceeds or door-fee to a charity or cause then write a press release about it.
