How Do You Know If Song Used In Past Ad Campaigns?

Is there a database somewhere that lists if a song was used in a previous ad campaign? I'd like to suggest using a specific song for one of my clients campaigns, but I want to make sure it wasn't used by any competitors or in a similar market.
