Design Concept Critique - Healthcare Service

Posted by melissa on 250 Points
My firm is currently working on design concepts for a company in the field of medical testing. They provide mobile testing services to Ob-Gyn's and their patients, at the Ob-Gyn's office.

This is a B2B informational and interactive site, where Ob-Gyn's need to feel comfortable uploading information, and producing reports. The Ob-Gyn industry is predominantly female (about 60-70%). Patients would not be viewing the site.

The layout and navigation have been approved by the client, but there are differing opinions on our side and theirs as to which color scheme, graphics, design, make the most sense in this application. I'm looking for open and honest opinions on the 3 concepts - primarily which would you choose as the best for a B2B Healthcare site, intended for viewing by doctors and their staff only.

Here are the links to the 3 concepts, all input is appreciated. Please reference 1, 2, or 3 in your response.

    My order of preference are:

1st: comp-2 because as James says it's clean, and looks more professional.

2nd: comp-3 I don't really like the blue background, maybe have the same background as comp-2 would make a difference?

3rd: comp-1 Although working with dark colours can work - it just depends on how you use it, and I think that you have to mix it with lighter colours, my website is a mixture of the two. This is definitely in my opinion a NO. It does not link to what you do, unless I've missed the point? I find the colours too overpowering and too dark.

    I hope this helps.

comp-1's graphic doesn't build your brand image.

comp-2 shows the process (but is this what will occur in the doctor's office?)

comp-3 shows the relationship (but is this really what will occur - or will the report be emailed/faxed?)

Given no other information, I'd choose comp-2.

The colour scheme is much cleaner and easy to read as compared to the other two. Comp 1 is to dark and sinister and infers some sort of high tech state of the art tool which is not exactly what you are offering. I agree with the the most recent comments that the process is highlighted by image 2 but is this actually the process (multiple test tubes) and comp 3 indicates personal attention which does not coincide with the description. So I would lean to comp 2 but comp 3 is my second choice because it allows the Physician to see him or herself as the client in this interaction.

I saw some great qualities in number I yet felt the black was negative
I did a few quick screen pix and manipulated it - I used a dark blue ground instead of the black around it and it really pops.
I like the fact that you are using an illustratiion rather than two obvious models. I also think the illustration sends a highly technical message. If you want to see how this quick rough looks, send me your email address and I will pop it off to you.

    Good luck-

Thank you to all for your feedback - this helped us nail down a final concept (2) with the client.
