Its good you want to announce your new hire. Yes, you can do a mailing-- which we hope will remind the clients about your company. But think WII-FM, the "what's in it for me" radio station that is playing in the clients head when you word your letter. Announcing a new hire for the sake of an announcement isn't meaningful. But announcing the special expertise the newby brings, or a special offer might be. Or he' started a new blog and invite clients to participate in comments and questions. he can host a breakfast event.

Whatever the plan, make sure your hire gets on the phone personally. Every call must have a reason-- so don't let him just call to introduced himself-- at the end of each call he should have a next action with the client

Stay with him to keep him on track, inspecting what you expect every step of the way. I did an article after I read a WSJ article saying a mishire in sales can cost a company $200K. I thought that was high, but put some #'s on a spreadsheet. With missed opportunities, that is a very real #.

    Good Luck

I dont' see anything wrong with giving the new hire inactive accounts. That is his job afterall. Just because they stopped buying from you at this stage, doesn't mean forever. Its a great opportunity for a warm call.
