How Do I Know If Our Eblast Went To Spam Folder

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We send out e-newsletter and other mass emailing materials on regular basis, i won't be surprised that some of our emails went to spam folders, but how do i know if this one ended up in the spam folder more than that one? with knowing that, we can work on changing our subject line or content.

appreciate your comments.

You can do this on a homegrown basis by just opening numerous email accounts and using them in a test cycle...like we use @gmail, @yahoo.com, @hotmail, @aol.com, etc.

If they are all coming in OK, you're doing well.

You can also subscribe to a service that will do this, but these can be pretty expensive and not at all cost-effective for a smaller list or business.

    You'll find a list here:

    https://www.email-marketing-reports.com/services/deliverability/

Plus one missing from that list is :
    https://www.deliverywatch.com/

One thing to be aware of is that these services can't account for all the different settings that recipients might be using. So while a delivery monitor might say you're being delivered to the inbox at webmail service A, users of that webmail service could still have end-user filters in place diverting you to junk folders.

You can make a test list up with some friends emails and send an email to them asking them if they recieved it. be sure to have accounts with diferent ISPs and users have different types of internet security.

There are two places the email could get interecpted. At the Internet Service Provider (ISP) or at the users computer with Norton, McAfee or some other internet security software.

You really want to be sure you are not being blocked at the ISP level. This is the biggest problem.

To make sure you are not blocked by individuals ask them to add your email address to the safe senders and their address book. This should take care of it at the user level.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

thank you all for your comments. in addition to send test emails to accounts with major ISP providers, or subscribe to a monitor system, is there a place/way to check if our email domain or IP addresses are on any "black list" or at great potential?

    1. I think all the monitoring services also include blacklist monitoring as part of the deal.

    2. There are standalone blacklist checking services, too:

    https://www.email-marketing-reports.com/lists/

3, Individual blacklists typically let you search their database for the IP address you send emails from or for your domain.

In terms of "potential" to get on one...both Sender Score Certified (Return Path) and Habeas offer free reputation checks which "grade" your current reputation as an email sender.

    See:

Sorry to come in late, but have you considered using one of the CRM solutions which will not only manage your contacts and everything you know about the, (Thus allowing you to search for precisely who you mail to) but also has an in built email merge and send function with tracking capabilities?

Maximizer Enterprise has a marketing campaign manager which allows you to send a personalised email in plain text or HTML to the selected recipients.

It also has the advantage of sending the emails one at a time, eliminating many SPAM problems with your ISP whilst leaving every single email looking hand-crafted.

Disclaimer: I used to be a Maximizer Business Partner and still recommend the product where I feel that it is the most appropriate solution.

    Best wishes
