How To Build Viral Factor In My Website?

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
I own this website -> https://saleraja.com. It lists all offline SALEs, Deals and Discounts in two popular cities of India.
Right now I am generating 50% traffic from organic search engine traffic, 30% from Google CPC clicks, 10% from direct sources and 10% from other remaining sources.

I want to increase the share of direct and referral traffic for my website. What could be cost-economical ways of doing this? My target audience is :
1) Students
2) Professionals in the age group 20-30 who are active on the internet as well as well involved in shopping.

What should I do to create more buzz and attract more traffic to my website? I am not looking here for a viral-marketing campaign, but what I am looking for is to build a viral element right into the website itself.

So any ideas, however wild they may be, are welcome. The only criteria is that they must be related to the target audience and domain (shopping) and idea should not be a one-time campaign but a long term concept which will continue to bring in traffic over time. It could be great if the idea itself improves with more people using it.

Looking for some bright responses from the marketers hidden in all of us.

    Tell-A-Friend (for example, https://www.tellafriendform.com/)
Arrange group purchases (people who all want the same product/service can get a "wholesale" price)

Turn your site into a community tool. People should sign up and then comment in the forums and groups. They ca add tips on shipping or if they no of a special sale or bargain available they can tip off the members in the site.

Be sure to add an invite my friends function especially on the detail pages of the slae items. If there is a great price on item X then I may not want to buy it but my cousin may be looking for one so I should be able to click 1 button and forward the detail to my cousin.

Group discounts is a great idea from Jay above. A group of user may be looking for a particular item. Once they have a critical mass of user 'maybe 10' then the supplier can offer them a discount or free shipping for instance.

    Good luck

I completely agree with your point.

I have already tried out some of the points you mentioned. We already have an Invite Friends link on the sale detail page. But that is only used by people who know about the website.

The problem we are facing is with attracting new traffic. We are generating good leads and response from people who are aware of SaleRaja. Attracting new traffic, economically, is the biggest challenge for us.

Turning the site into a community and to add group discounts were really good ideas which we will surely look into.

    Thanks Mathew and Jay.
