New Site Layout

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've requested anything from the amazing collective of marketing minds! So I'm back and need some input on our new website layout. There isn't anything specific that I'm looking for input on but would just like to know if there is anything that you feel could be done better overall. I realize this is very vague request and I apologize in advance.

Thank you in advance for your input!

Let's say I'm a customer, and I clicked on your site for the first time. Here's how I would react.

I hate sites that load music automatically. When I get to a site that blasts their music over whatever I'm listening to, I click out.

When I click on a product (such as a Tee), the larger image opens slowly (I have a 12mbps connection), and is so far down on my screen that I can only see the top half. (My screen resolution is 1280x1024, using IE7) Scrolling the page doesn't help. The image stays at the bottom of the screen.

I'm guessing the images load slowly because they are all hosted on photobucket. Why aren't they hosted on the same server as your site?

When I get that larger image, I'm expecting I should be able to click to buy the product, but there's no link for that. Why do you show all the Tees, Hoodies, Hats, etc., but not let me order there - instead I have to click a text link to order online and then go to the cart. The cart should be integrated with all the product images you show on the front end. You want people to be able to browse the products and buy what they want as soon as they see it. Making them take another step makes it harder for them to spend money with you.

Once I click the link to order online, it's not clear how I'm supposed to do that. Am I supposed to click on the tv? That doesn't do anything. In fact, other than looking cool, it has no purpose. Do I have to login? Can I not shop as a guest?

Then, I scroll down and see two products to order, but when I click on one, I still can't order because I don't have cookies enabled. You want me to reset my security level to Medium so I can order from you? This is where I leave.

    I hope this is helpful.

    babbsela,

Thank you for the input! really appreciate it! those are valid points. Won't go into detail as to why we have the store separated from the actual preview/line sheets of the product, but I can understand the frustration of a new user and your point of needing to be able to "one click" to buy. Image loading is an issue for varying screen resolution setups as you mentioned.

As for the store itself- very valid points.

    Thanks again!

I'd like to see one product from each category on your home page (rather than vil-live-it.jpg).

Your home page (https://www.feartofaithclothing.com/) creates a frame for https://feartofaith.info/liveit/ I would strongly suggest a redirect from https://www.feartofaithclothing.com/ instead, since your home page probably isn't indexed correctly by search engines.
