    a pitch is presenting your concept or idea of an advertisment to the client.

    IE: Bill pitched Olgvie PR with the concept of two naked skydivers for their next radio commercial, but the idea fell flat.

    Pitch can be a bit broader than what Darcy said. It is presenting an idea or proposal to anyone who may respond to the pitch (not just advertisement to client, which is one example of a pitch). You can pitch business ideas to venture capitalists, etc.

    Pitch could also be the action of tossing a baseball over home plate and having a catcher catch the ball.

    Then again, it can also be the tone of notes when talking or singing: as in I don't like the pitch she is singing, she seems awefully sharp on those notes.
