Unique Giveaway For Physican's Office

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are launching our Post Op care program to surgeons in our area, and I'm looking for an upscale item to leave in the office. Since I'm only targeting 50 offices, I can go a little higher in my budget. I'm not sure if I should gear it to the doctors or their staff, and would like something of a permanent nature. I've considered a leather pad for them to write prescriptions, but don't know if many are still writing scripts or just sending them electronically. I like the travel mug or usb flashdrive, but like everyone else, am looking for the one unique "bestest thing on the block"!!! Thanks for all your help, this is a great forum.

So - I'm guessing that this is something you'd like for surgeons to embrace and display, and for their patients to see.

    What about:
    - A white lab coat with your logo discretely placed on it?
    - A stethoscope with your log on it?
    - A digital picture frame with your logo on it, and pre-loaded with images of happy & recovering patients?

    Hope that helps.

All your ideas are fine (except the prescription pad-- which as you assumed is dated) but the docs get tons of this stuff already from drug companies. My husband is an "eye guy" and we just went to a conference and there were just tons of USB drives. Docs drink a lot of coffee with their crazy hours-- they are very popular and appreciated.

I did take home a cool piece of schwag that everyone was clamoring in line for. Remember the "magic 8 ball when we were kids? The one where you ask a question and flip it over for the answer? Not only did one eye drop company emboss that with their message-- but the base had a film resembling the iris of the eye. Its cool-- we took two.

Another cool gift was in smart meetings mag last year-- I still have the issue. You can brand your message on the leaves of a plant. I suggested this to a client and we sent it with a message "lets grow our business together". It can be found @ www.message-plant.com.

Other cool ideas -- I did personalized gum ball machines for a major client-- using their logo vs mine. Its still in their reception area. Make it special with personalized M&M's (again their logo). And depending on budget-- I did Tiffany pens to my top clients- its a lot of "wow" factor-- only $100-- my gift message was something like "lets write another great year". You can also do a lot with lazar on glass cubes-- I did a large diamond glass shape-- with the message "our customers are valuable to us"

    Hope those help, Carol

Joanne, Just a word of caution and I refer you to this website:

    https://www.aafp.org/online/en/home/practicemgt/regulatory-compliance/faqss...

This site provides information on what may could be defined as "buying referrals." I know that we are severely limited in what we can give our physicians so it does not cross over into this fairly gray area. You might be fine, but, I always think it is best to be safe.

That said, I am still carrying a Swiss army knife emblazoned with the logo of a hospital I left 10 years ago! It's not one of the cheap knock-offs, but a Wenger. I also carry a pen which is quite "substantial" from the same institution. The organization I presently work for purchased similar pens this year and they have been well received (Think they were less than $6-$7 apiece and are quite nice!)

    Good Luck!

These are all great ideas, I especially like the message on the plant. I think the ultimate referral will come from the office manager, case worker, surgery scheduler, and this might appeal and stay out in the front for a while. Should I be looking at something as common as a post-it holder????

    CVN,
Thank you so much for the caution, I will look into the site. The upscale pen and swiss army knife are great suggestions, thank you.

I believe you're right on track with most of your referrals coming from the office staff. I think you might want to do a small gift to the physicians (love the Swiss Army knife idea) and a gift to the staff as well. One of my favorites is a candy jar with your logo on it --- buy the nicest and biggest jar you can find.
You can then stop by every so often to replenish the candy jar and visit with the staff!

    Good luck!

What about emergency sewing kits for the staff? It's a play on surgery, easily stored, and easily left in cars, travel bags, or office drawers.
