Website For David Flash, Coupon Marketer

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi! My name is David Flash and I have been helping businesses market with coupons since 1998. In the past few years, y'all have helped me get better at marketing the media I sell through postcards, websites and emails...to the point where I actually get help coupon publishers with their marketing in addition to the local businesses I serve.

I have created a website showcasing my work and experience and genuinely passionate desire to help businesses grow through effective coupon marketing.

Here's the link: https://www.davidflash.com

I have been thinking about this site for about a year....and cranked it out in about 8 hours total. I know it needs a lot of tweeking. You guys have helped me with many of the media kit sites I link to on this site...and I'm sure your advice will make DavidFlash.com better serve its purpose: to make prospective clients comfortable enough with my skill set and genunie desire to help them that they will call or email me to start a conversation...and trust my recommendations once they do.

Advice on copy, additional pages to include, navigation, page titles, or anything else you see that could make the site better would be much appreciated. I have tremendous respect for this group and I can't wait to see your suggestions.

Thanks,

David Flash

I'd suggest a larger font size for easier reading.
    Add analytics to track traffic.
Your home page is a bit confusing. It's not immediately apparent what you do, for who, and why they'd need you. If you have a case study, or testimonials, show 'em.
If I could click through your books (i.e., Elegant Living) that would also be a plus.
Finally, it appears that you specialize in Austin, TX area. If so, make that clear on your site.

Your website looks like a blog or a resume, and doesn't really stand out. It's just so bland. I noticed you are using Yahoo site builder for your other sites, which have a brighter look and wonder why you're not using it here.

The navigation is not intuitive; I didn't see the links at the top-right at first, and was searching for your About page. I don't like the way it takes me off-site to get the About info, and I think using your LinkedIn profile is a bit of an overkill. I'd create a proper About page, with a link to the profile.

You don't have a link to "Home". After clicking around, I discovered that your "News" link does that. You need to add a link to Home.

Your "Note from David" is written in first person, yet your portfolio is in third person. You need to stick with one voice.

It's a good idea to use a different term than "Links" for your links page. "Resources" or "Recommended Reading" would be better.

"...media kit and consumer facing coupon websites". What is a consumer facing coupon website? I'm a web developer and I'm confused. If I'm confused, I'm guessing your potential customers will be, too. Don't be afraid to write some more descriptive text.

You also need to add a META Description and Keyword tag to each of your pages.

I agreee with others that it has blog feel to it. For my own personal taste it is too stark, too white.
In the portfolio - website section I would include a thumbnail of the site as well as the link. This way people can get a good idea of your designs. I would also include a little description of what you did for he client, what problem did you solve for them and how did you do it. If you have any comments from the client I would include them here.

I agree with Jay that you could use some testimonials or glowing comments by your clients. Be sure to ask for permission. The more info, company name, persons name, etc you can use the better.

You headings could use spacing before the first and second line (line spacing) as they seem to compact.

On your print ads page the thumbnails are going under the category listings. Something needs to change on the template to have the thumbnails below the listings.

    Enjoy your project,
    Mike
