    hi,

what is the target group? i guess it will fit the facebook age range, right? or are you reaching for the silver surfers and grey gamers?

    1. so start a group or product page on facebook, offer something exclusive, let people become a fan because of that "something".

    2. start a virtual gift campaign on facebook. people can send each other this gift which would be something city trip related. if you need help with starting a facebook campaign don't hesitate to contact me.

    3. make a research of companies (with intranets) and community platforms (e.g. midrange to big party picture platforms > tilllate.com) matching your target group and offer something special while starting and promoting that something with a online campaign (skyscraper, integrate the offer in the community's newsletter)

    4. if you want to advertise in germany check the possibilities on studiVZ instead of facebook (and/or)

    5. make a presales action as an event on www.amiando.com - they have the feature to show the bought ticket in the facebooks minifeed. and the user who bought that ticket can offer his friends the exclusive price off of e.g. 5%. the spreading starts: "really? you go to paris and i can have it for a 5% price off? NICE!" the user "offering" the 5% can refund his trip by convincing the others to make a trip themselves - amiando cashes back the funded money. the only question is if your ticketing system can handle such a workaround process over amiando.com.

    6. make an online casting with city tripers. you are looking for the best of an online community (best writer, best commenter, most uploaded videos, best pictures) - with this action you would ask for the opinion leaders of platforms. make them special, give them something they can upgrade their status within the community.

if you still believe in print start a crossmedia campaign advertising the viral action on facebook or another online community in print and try to bring them to the online places. don't forget to work with codes in print to see from which media they are coming. and be aware of the media conversion.

    regards from switzerland

Could you just tell them that they get a free Wii Fit Balance Board with every ticket purchased?

Seriously however - I just blogged about "viral" yesterday due to another question on the KHE about "Fruitcake Recycling". You can see that here: https://marketgogo.blogspot.com/2008/12/fruitcake-bashing-season-has-arrive....

Having worked for a low-cost airline, I have seen a lot of things tried. One thing that did work is a game where you had to invite your friends to sign-up. Each person that signed up got you more entries. The grand prize was a trip for you and your six friends (that signed up) to anywhere the airline flew. Another thing that works GREAT is a desktop application like Southwest Airlines' Ding.

Who is your primary target audience and what is their biggest unmet need? What's your distinctive benefit-oriented positioning? Why should someone fly your airline instead of competition? Or are you selling the cities you serve? If so, why would your target audience want to go to those cities? Business or pleasure travelers? Need lots more information if we're going to really help you.
