Need Help Creating Website & Marketing Materials.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting a Virtual Assistant business. The name is My Cyber Assistant. I would like to create a good imagine prior to the launch of my marketing efforts. I am looking for someone to help with building my website and to establish some sort of identity (logo, business cards etc). I do not have an allowance in my (non-existent) budget for this. This would be a great project for a student or someone who would like to build their portfolio. Or just someone who might like to help a women owned start-up.

I have my domain purchased (MyCyberAssistant.com) but I am having a bit of difficulty building my website. I am using Go Daddy for hosting. Their templates leave a bit to be desired. I can navigate their Website Tonight fairly easily. I understand the mechanics of web design but lack the creative vision needed to bring my site to life.

I would like to expand my service offerings to my future clients, so this could be an opportunity to for a partnership. Please let me know if you are interested. Any ideas, help advice etc is greatly appreciated.

There are many different templates you can use to create websites.

I have made many sites using a Content Management System (CMS) called Joomla. This is open source and therefore free. I usally purchase templates for this as they are more likely to be editable than many of the free ones. I can reccomend www.rockettheme.com as a great company that has many beatiful designs. They even have a tool called the Rocket Launcher that will install joomla and the template on your server. This should be something you can do through your Go Daddy account.

    I hope this helps.

At the risk of being self-serving, I wrote a book for people such as yourself (https://www.manygoodideas.com/store/).

Be advised that the biggest cost of a website isn't its creation - it's maintenance. What happens when you want to change the text/graphics on the site - who do you contact? How much do you pay?

Thanks for the ideas so far. I will check them out. As far as the website maintenance I would like to be able to do the updates myself. I do fairly well at the basics and the behind the scenes stuff. It's just finding the right template and graphics I think is the problem for me.

One more thought, in addition to the excellent advice you've already gotten.

Don't use one of your host's templates. If you change hosts, you lose your design.

Oh, and lots more resources specifically for Virtual Assistants here:
