Life After The Military Enlisted Vs Officer

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Does an enlisted person with the same education as an officer in the military have equal oportunity when it comes to career choices in the civilian sector? The reason I ask is because officers are projected as more qualified to lead than enlisted but that is certainly not the case. Does the civilian sector hold any prejudices toward enlisted personnel?

No, most business understand that the master sargent is the kind of getting thing done.

However, if you want to hire someone with a really developed network, military academy grads come with zillions of contacts.

I think it depends on the culture of the company you're applying to.

    If it's a get-the-job-done entrepreneurial place there's no diff. If it's a command-and-control place, officer wins.

I do think people look at the officers in a better light than the enlisted. Not that this is right, but I think it happens. Often times officers have gone through more eductation, so that may contribute to this view.
