Realize that people aren't looking to learn to cook French food. They're looking to impress others, learn something new, or explore their food passion/expertise. Make your website's copy in alignment with these benefits.

Since you're located in UK, make your contact information more visible (and include UK in the copy) to remove any possible confusion.

I was confused from the beginning on what you were offering.

You have some great photography but the content that is currently on the site does not grab the visitor's attention.

You only have about a couple of seconds to grab their attention.

On your lessons page you need to move the catchy sayings like Oh my God over the left. People read from left to right and there is too much space between the 1........ and the catchy phrase.

You need to move your contact button from the bottom the site into the main navigation of the site. You may also want to put a call to action on each page. If someone is reading your lesson list and their light bulb goes off in their head because they found exactly what they are looking for, you don't want them to have to search for how to contact you. Get them while they are hot as I tell my website design clients.

Testimonials are also important but spread them through the entire site. No testimonial pages. People don't read testimonial pages.

I'm not a huge fan of Frequently Asked Questions, only because most site that have FAQ pages don't ask the right questions. Make the site simple to understand so people don't have to guess what you are offering.

What might be fun is a helpful hints section. What did someone learn from one of your last functions. They did not take into account that they had Americans joining them and American portions are larger so they ate more which meant the host ran out of food quicker. Something that would bring people back to your site often. You could make this section interesting, as well as funny. Just make sure you keep it updated, so it will bring people back to your site.
