Hi all.

I am a new account executive in a reputable Advertising Agency and was wonder what books/articles are considered a must read for new recruits to Advertising. In addition, I would very much appreciate your advice and recommendations on how to write clear and concise creative briefs.

Thanx in advance

I probably don't need to tell you that Ad Age is THE magazine that you need to read. I like the content on this site as well as CRM Guru. Also, get all of Seth Godin's books. Take a look at this question and the answers: https://www.marketingprofs.com/ea/qst_question.asp?qstID=2217

For your creative briefs, it's kind of difficult to give you an indication of a template. If you're working with a new client, you're going to want to include information on the Industry (competitive environment, examples), the company, the brand, and any collateral that you have of that brand. Once you've been working with the client, your creative brief will be focused on the deliverables and any change or shift in strategy. As J McKay wrote, your best bet is this: make sure your creative director is your new best friend!

Also for free your advertising team can tap into a wealth of on-line marketing concepts and nuggets. Fill out the survey and you can tap into some of the oldest marketing advertisement campaigns ever initiated by some of the historians of advertisement.
