Facebook, Myspace Or Other?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello,

I am seeking to launch my public relations consulting business. Part of those efforts will include establishing a web presence on either face book or myspace. Since I am new to internet marketing I was wondering if this group could share your thoughts on which internet site, face book or myspace, would provide the best professional visibility for my PR consulting biz.

Or is there yet another site that would offer greater visibility for potential clients? Since I do not have access to a web developer my choices need to be user friendly, which I can implement myself.

Any other marketing tips this group could provide for one seeking to raise their visibility on the net would also be appreciated. Bye the way my PR focus is going to be on alternative and renewable energy companies and
agencies.

Thanks for your assistance.

For what it is worth, in a recent conversation with someone in publishing, I heard that My Space is on the way out and Facebook has become the preferable of the two mentioned. Of course, in 15 minutes there might be something entirely new.

    Good Luck!

I'm going to second LinkedIn. This is a network where you're more likely to reach decision makers. However, it will require pro-active work on your part. You can't just set up a profile and expect results, but participate in answering and asking questions in it's busy forums.

You might also consider subscribing to HARO.

As an expert in PR, you might be able to answer questions that reporters or bloggers have regarding the topic. It could be a useful tool for getting yourself mentioned in the press and web news or perhaps a client.
