Need Better Layout For Craigslist Search Engine

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hi all,

I just purchased a new website, which is basically a Craigslist search engine, allowing you to search ALL of Craigslist, rather than having to search city by city.

This is great for job searches, for people who are willing to relocate, and it's also great for people who are willing to ship the items they sell.

The site is https://www.CraigZoom.com

Anyhow, the site is now brand new to me, and I feel like it needs a more intuitive layout. I don't want to change the way the site functions using the 2 frames, because I still want to stay within the terms of service of Craigslist.

I want to keep the advertising sections that are on there. And, I want people to still 'feel' the Craigslist part. But, I need to emphasize that you can search 'All' of Craigslist. That needs to be a little more prominent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rita

How are you planning to generate awareness of your site and service?

My first thought is to make the left hand pane have a bit more information about your business, since your "splash screen" disappears as soon as someone starts exploring.

Why not explicitly tell people how the site can be used ("This is great for job searches, for people who are willing to relocate, and it's also great for people who are willing to ship the items they sell.").

Since the site is free to use, why not explicitly state that as a benefit? (Search all Craigslist postings at once easily for FREE")

I personally didn't care for the site. It just looks like Google results pages on the right and craigslist on the right.

I am not a big fan of frames, which this site uses. They can somtimes cause problems and are generally frowned upon these days.

This site has no branding and is rather plain. You need to brand the results page that appears in the right frame (preferably getting rid of the frames). Do a search on embedding google search results, here's one I found https://www.wwwsearchsolutions.com/google.php.

As it stands It appears that I am just looking at Craigslist and Google.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike
