How Companies Partner With Rewards Programs?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am currently an intern for a company that is trying to figure out how companies partner with different rewards programs. For example, the Anaheim Ducks have a fan loyalty card, in which you get discounts at multiple different companies. So, my question is, how did the companies that are on the discount card get there? Are they paying an advertising agency to figure out sponsorships? Are the Ducks seeking out specific companies they want to sponsor them?
The Ducks is just an example--I am interested in how this works for any company that partners with someone to offer discounts. Thanks!

2 ways that we've worked with professional teams

    1) We were contacted by the sales person for the team

    2) They demographics for this team fit our client so we contacted their sales person.

    Hope that helps.

My experience is similar to Michael's. The org has their own sales (or fund raising committee) that makes these contacts. Or the company sees the org would be a good marketing and business building vehicle and contacts the team.

FIrst thing you need to do is estimate the revenue generated by your customers for these companies, some companies would join even if it is not much for the awareness.

From these figures you should set the discounts that you want them to offer your clients and then approach them with a proposal for that
