Feedback For A New Blogger

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi

I started blogging in january this year so I am quite new to this. I am looking for feedback on my blog in relation to the following
Any obvious errors - anything that stands out to a viewer that would be off putting
Anything that is missing - as in anything that would make the blog more appealing
Also I would appreciate any tips on monetization, are there too many ads? What would be the best way to try to monetize the site?

I'm not sure if this is really a place to ask these questions as I am not a professional blogger/ website owner

What your really care about are your visitors - what do they think of your blog? You have Google Analytics installed - how's your traffic? Your bounce rate? How many inbound links are you getting?

From my perspective - your blog is a bit of a jumble. It's not clear why a visitor would be interested in reading your blog - what's the theme? Target audience?

I'm also not a fan of a 3-column site. It's hard on the eyes to discern the organization / key content. Also: it's hard to find the navigation for your site.

My two cents (well, maybe a nickel's worth)

    1) It's hard to read. The colors all blend into each other.

    2) Why would I want to read it? It's about women bloggers, but what kind? What are they blogging about? Why would I want to read their blogs?

    3) Yes, there are too many ads. They're distracting

    4) Either put more about yourself (what's your story, why are you interesting to your readers), or less - and put it on a separate page or in a profile on the side

    5) Use the center column to talk more about the points in item #2

I too think that it is a little busy with all the ads. If they could be confined a little bit it might help.

I did not acutally see much blog on the home page. Perhaps you could put some sort of directory of topics. You have the members, but people may be more interedsted in topics.

I am not found of the narrow cetner column. You may want to switch to two columns. Perhaps the memebers list need to be on a separate page as it is a pretty large list (which is a good thing).

    I hope this helps,
    Mike
