Which Blogs Should I Target?

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
My career is in Hispanic marketing but I make soap on the side for fun. Recently I have created a website to sell the soap and have been advised that the best way to get traffic is to contact bloggers and ask them to review my product or participate in free giveaways. Since this is not my actual field of expertise, and I haven't followed many blogs, I feel like a fish out of water...what type of blog should I be targeting?
This is the website:
(no, I'm NOT trying to sell you anything, I just thought it might be helpful to see the type of vibe and product that I offer before recommending a blog category (is there such a thing?) ...although if I pick your answer I will definitely send you free soap!)

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Also, I thought I picked 500 points but it only shows 25 points, how can I change that?
    Thanks,

https://thesoapbar.blogspot.com/ may be useful for you.

But instead of simply focusing on bloggers, why not focus on who you're targeting: Women/men? Ages? For self/gift? Demographic? Next, figure out what magazines these targeted people are likely to read. Many of these magazines have blogs as well, and more importantly, editors who'll review products. Find out if/when they'll be reviewing soap and offer to send samples for possible review.

Nice soap! Here are some ideas:

Daily Candy (this is more like an email + website) - hard to get into this one though

The Beauty Blog network - https://www.beautyblognetwork.com/

    Lists of good blogs --

I googled "soap blogs" and apparently there are a bunch of blogs just on soap. But I am not sure what their traffic numbers are.

Also, your soap designs look like they'd be fun for kids. So I'd recommend targeting "Mom" and children's product blogs also.

    Good luck, hope that helps.

Soap blogs are run by soapers who sell their soap and so it would not be the appropriate format.

I agree that there are other marketing venues but right now I am focused on blogging. Magazines have an editorial calendar of topics which is planned way in advance and in order to submit, you must access the calendar and find out which month fits the topic. I am looking for a quicker turnaround at the moment. However, it's definitely something for the future.

Tracey: excellent idea to target mom and childrens blogs, thanks!

Ooops, I hit post too many times. Sorry but can admin help me out again? Not sure how to delete.

Tracey: I also love the beauty blog idea and the link to tons of websites, thank you so much. Please accept a gift certificate from me for $15 of free soap plus free shipping. Just pick out what you would like and click purchase, then when it asks for payment, click "money order" but of course you dont send one.

I am still open to more suggestions if anyone has them as I understood from reading the rules that I can split the points between people.
