Non Profit Name Change Help

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am new to non profit as well as trying to teach myself marketing and PR. We are changing our organizations name and I need to create a marketing/PR roll out plan for the change. We will keep our logo for a time and then eventually change it out. Help.

Our CEO feels that keeping the logo with the new name will let people know it's still us. I'm to create a timeline and PR plan for the name change. I'm teaching myself could really use some ideas and/or suggestions.

    Thank you, Theresa
We are called Valley of the Sun School and Habilitation Center. Long one! We are no longer a school and need a major update on website, name, and all marketing.
    www.vsshc.org.

The marketing plan is to help with the name change and branding or is it for business generation...or is it both.

    Thank you. :)

Are you changing who you serve or just how you serve them?

If you're changing the "who", then keeping your logo doesn't help your marketing effort.

If you're changing the "how", then I'd simultaneously change your logo, but showing the transition in name, tagline, and logo. For example, "Valley of the Sun School and Habilitation Center is becoming Valley Habilitation Center. We're focusing just on XXXX, but with the same great staff, etc."

Be consistent in all your marketing: website, e/newsletter, ads, etc.
