    You can create your own social network site for free using software such as: https://www.ning.com/

    The company's software may be worth the $, but you need to find out who their clients are and contact them to find out their experiences using it.

    What are you trying to accomplish? What's your objective? How much money are you willing to spend to accomplish that objective? How would you market your business?

    The expense isn't in the software. It's in the marketing to get people to join/participate. You need to start with a business plan and a marketing plan, so you'll know how the whole thing will fit together.
