Input Requested On New Sales System

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We have created a real no pressure shopping experience for car dealers. This new device allows a customer to take a pda out on the lot and there is an icon for every car. When they choose a car the customer presses the iconand a girl pops up and does a complete interactive presentation of the car. If they request more info or a test drive they press a button and it sends an alert inside for the salesman to respond. So far customers have raved about it. Kind of like Internet shopping at the dealer. Would love to hear everyones thoughts. Thanks

What sort of input are you looking for?
If customers love it (and it results in quicker sales for the dealers) then you're well on your way.

Your website itself needs some improving. It would be nice to turn off the intro video on the home page. The footer isn't positioned well (as viewed in Firefox). The layout is a bit busy. The Patent Info link isn't working either.

When you say customers have raved about this, are you talking about customers ( people who have bought cars from the dealer) or prospects (people are likely to buy cars) or suspects (folks who have not yet been qualified)?

And I am curious, who pays for this? Who hires the girl and pays her to create the interactive presentation?

If I were a car salesman, I would resent any piece of technology which stood between me and a potential buyer. I certainly understand that folks who are looking at cars would rather not be accosted by an overly aggressive car salesman. But I believe that it costs between $50 and $100 in advertising for a dealer to get a single person to walk into their showroom. Although I am a long-time fan of prospect centered marketing, I think that traditional car dealers would prefer more conversations between their salespeople and potential buyers, not fewer conversations.

Just down the road from me, there is a parking lot where folks will park their cars for sale, with a brief flyer or pray sheet describing their car. I would think that this sort of an unattended sales lot would be a better prospect of this technology.

And speaking of technology, if there are dozens or hundreds of cars on the lot, that is a lot of icons. Would it be possible to use RF technology so that the automated presentation is selected automatically?
