Newly Opened Hair Braiding Salon Needing Ideas

Recently opened a hair braiding salon that's in a good street location but the building sits far off the road making the business hard to find. Needing marketing ideas very badly. I was forced here due to hurricane Ike. I have 2 competitors that's on the same block, that seems to be doing very well. However, they have been in their locations for years. They don't have very good customer service but does beautiful work.

    Tia,

    Cheap? You can hire a HS kid to stand out by the street with a sign. You can also use those bandit signs real estate people use (i think banditsigns.com) .

    Got a local high school? Do a braid-a-thon and donate a portion back to the school.

    I agree with the others... How about one of those signs that are pretty much a plastic upside-down V. You can have them printed with a great ad that stresses how good your service & braids are.

    Also, maybe set-up a referral program... Have 20/20 cards. Have your customer write their name on the referral card. When they give the card to their friend, their friend will get 20% off their visit. The next time your customer comes in, she, too will get 20% off her visit as a thank you for referring her friend.
