Getting The Business Started

Been struggling for about 2 months now in trying to get new customers. I basically spent 4 years on and off designing websites and now that i have a portfolio, it seems so hard to get any paying customers. Everyone on my portfolio is non paying and i cant seem to get the business started. Any ideas as to how and where to begin?

    In a word, I would say networking. But can you please provide additional information, such as your location, a link to your website (you should add this to your profile page), and a bit more information about your background and specialties?

    Also, referrals from your non-paying customers. They know/trust your work and can provide warm introductions to others.
