Cable Tv Ad?

Posted by Anonymous on 113 Points
Hi we run a sports cam that begins in about two months and are considering doing a local tv ad on cable. Is this feesible to put together in this short a time frame? Anyone have any ideas on the cost? And would it be better to put that $$ towarda direct mail pieces?

Thanks

Most cable stations will produce the spot for you if you commit to a large enough schedule. "Large enough" depends on your market (e.g., New York, Chicago or LA will probably want more than Klamath Falls, etc.).

You might also look into Spot Runner. It usually turns out to be the lowest cost option for small businesses that need local spot cable television.

As for how it compares to direct mail, it really depends on a lot of factors. The most important is the creative expression of your positioning benefit message. A good message, clearly and persuasively communicated, will beat a lousy one in any medium.

It will also help you (in either medium) if you can narrow your target audience. Seek to define an audience that you can really speak to. It's better to get 100% of a narrowly defined audience than 0.1% of a large, ill-defined one.

Spend your money on a great creative team and let them create the advertising, using a creative brief you provide.
