You need to ask yourself (and answer) a lot of questions.

Who are you targeting?
What are these people interested in?
What other social media do they use that you can link to?
Which blogs do they read?
What other non social media sites do they visit?
What other forums do they read?
What content or bait are you offering?
Why should they come to your site?

Yes, building a social site is tough, but without answers to these questions your chances of success will be far slimmer. Success doesn't just fall from the sky. You have some work to do.

Only YOU know which people you are targeting and only you
know who is on your network at the moment. So, who is currently on your list? Got that? Now, put up a page or send them all an
e-mail and ASK them:

What are they interested in?
What other social media do they use that you can link to?
Which blogs do they read?
What other non social media sites do they visit?
Which sub groups of those sites do they visit?
What other forums do they read?

A simple survey will help you to help your audience. The trick is to find out what people want ... and then give it to them. And the only person that can do this is you.
