Grand Opening

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I just started helping a Doctor with a Grand Opening in 3 days. He did not contact the Chamber or do press releases. He did get a mascot, plans a raffle and food and beverages. He has a very limited budget. Any ideas on other ways to pull this off the right way in 3 days? Thanks for your advice.

Your doc is running the risk of having the party that nobody came.

Get on the phone. Call other docs and invite them -- docs are a tight group and when they like you are great referrals. Look for other events to tie into. Its Memorial Day weekend, there are plenty of events to tie into. Vut your event is Fri so there aren't fairs you can send the mascot to and pass out fliers.

    Door hang -- radius marketing.

And make sure you are paid upfront. You must love a challenge.

Scream, stomp up and down, pull your hair like Joe Cocker--now get down to business!

Do a one page flyer/invitation/announcement--photo of mascot; answer all the press release questions (one/two word answers): What, When (time & date), Where, How, Why? Fax or email to local press and deliver to chamber/post at local library, supermarkets, senior centers, apartments/condos, friendly docs offices, any other places where community notices are posted. Agree with Carol Blaha's recommendations.
    Good luck!!

I'm assuming you're trying to get prospective patients to attend. Focus on WHY they should attend - what's in it for them? Is it a fun time for the whole family? A presentation on how to add 10 years to your life easily? How to save money and improve your health? Make it worth someone's time to stop by.

For the next 48 hours you should be hand delivering flyers to every business in the area. Until it's dark you want to be going door to door with flyers.

    Sleeping is a luxury now.
