Golf Fun Hole Sponsorship - Any New Fresh Ideas?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Need ideas for an upcoming charity golf tournament.

I own an event management company. Our company just opened in February and we are looking at different ways to promote and get our services exposed. There is a major upcoming golf tournament with the 'who is who' on the island attending. So we need to be there!

We are sponsoring a hole and want to make it fun and different but also themed around our services - event management. As prizes we plan to give out company branded items.

We don't want it to be alcohol focused...we are in 80 degree weather...bright and sunny :)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

    Hi, Charris,

My first thought is you should go all out and decorate the entire green as if for an outdoor event, with a framed entryway, raised platform/stage off to one side, A/V operator, etc. The thing is, it's not LIKE an outdoor event, because it actually IS an event every time one of the players/teams comes to putt.

I am assuming this is a private event not viewed by public, right? So you need PEOPLE to make this idea work: attendants on hand to make every participant/team feel special, as if they are PGA superstars. You pay a gallery of people to be on hand to hush-hush when necessary and then cheer when appropriate; you have an announcer to dispense awards at podium; you have an A/V person with music queued and ready to play something triumphant when a player sinks a putt; you have servers with cool refreshments on hand, you have an event photographer to take pics of players, etc.

This requires an all-day commitment from many, many people, and you'd probably have to hire a small crowd through an agency to "be" the gallery all day, but just think of the impact and how special the players will feel. Yours will be remembered as the FUN green, the one to talk about with their families that night or with their colleagues next work day.

This will require much coordination---but you are an event company, and so this should be no problem to pull this off successfully, and it would demonstrate various facets of what you can do. Afterward, mail out thank-yous (and the photographs, too) with a note that says, among other things, "If we can do all this outdoors, imagine what we can do for your indoor events, too." Or something like that.

    Just my 2 cents' worth....

    Hi Phil,

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

Not sure if you understood the request, but was actually looking for ideas surrounding the fun hole...what can we do to exploit our services?

I definitely agree with you on the promotional items, I would be happy to hear your suggestions on other branded items good for this type of group.

Let us not worry about budget at this time, it is inspiring ideas that we are looking for.

    Again, thanks so much.

Make your event the "destination". The party (people, snack, drink, gift, etc.) awaits at the hole. Create a table setting (metal punch bowl, etc.) that highlights both your decorative style and rewards accuracy if they hit specific items from the tee off.

If it is a par three, you could hire a golf celebrity, such as the Hole In One King, King of Aces, Mancil Davis - the PGA Record holder of 51 holes in one to hit balls with the golfers. He is always a big draw and big hit with golfers and as your "celebrity" he promotes your event management company all day long......and it shows you can pull off anything client focused.(in fact - he might be a good partner to call on for future events?) - pricing is reasonable. www.holeinoneking.com
