Before you start to paint your 30-second pitch with "dazzle and personality in order to wow the judges" you should probably figure out what the real message will be beneath the "dazzle and personality." What's the benefit or reason why your target audience might want to buy your luxury flatware? What benefit will they expect and demand? What is the basic underlying need you're satisfying.

If you can come up with a really compelling benefit story, the dazzle and personality will be relatively easy to use as "packaging." Without that core positioning benefit, though, you're going to come across as all sizzle and no steak.

This is a positioning project if ever there was one. Spend the next week or 10 days getting the positioning right. Then you can add the dazzle and personality at the end and have a winning pitch.

Michael's right. Focus on the core, then you can dress it up.

One exercise that might help is to record what your clients say about your flatware (i.e., interview them). What exactly caused them to "ooh" and "aah"? Who are they? What's unique about your flatware and makes it a luxury item that they "gotta have"?

And as part of your pitch, realize that people aren't thinking about buying luxury flatware. They're thinking of making a table setting that "wows". So paint your offering in that light.

Hey there! Have you heard of Blingware? Don't be a square! Get our flatware!

What is flatware you ask? That's the task. To help you see so you'll agree. That we're the best and that's why we're ahead of the rest.

You've never heard of Blingware? Well we're taking it everywhere. It will no longer be a secret. Those who buy it will have no regret.

So come along and hum our song. "Don't be a square, get Blingware!"

    Hi Nicole

They are all very right. But going back to the principles of advertising... you have to assume that your customers are completely unaware of your product and that they are 'dumb'. So you have to deliver a clear message.

What i mean by message is either stating the benefits of product, stressing on what it can give (not what it can't do that the competiton can) and why they should get your products as opposed to something else.

Or you can have another approach to this. Create some sort of mystery, perhaps even in a funny way, that will incite customers to visit your website because they are so curious about what it is.
This is live marketing. You create the need and curiosity that your website and product range will self explain once they are visiting.

But remember always to keep your pitch consistent with everything you've done in the past and will do in the future. If you have a tagline or slogan, don't forget to use it and abuse of it. You want it to register in your consumer's minds.

Good luck with your pitch and send me a link if it goes online. Would love to see it.

    Hello to all,
Before I close this question I just need to get some more information from you all.

VICTOR- my tagline is "It's a lifestyle show it". Blingware flatware give everyday people a chance to experience the life of the rich and famous. By making a one of a kind and unique flatware that is functional, a conversation piece and also a piece of artwork. Out of this Victor help me sum this up in 30 seconds.

Allen Clements- Come up with another song with my tagline in it ("It's a lifestyle show it"). If I go with this should I have this song in the beginning of my audition or at the end.

Jay- Everyone that see my product says that it have that "WOW" factor. It's the "bling" on the flatware that cause them to "ooh" and "aah". My target people are 26 years old and up. Blingware has been in numerous magazines, The Grammy's Award Show, Canada Film Festival, and Latin person of the Year Award show. Many celebrities have my product that was given as part of the gift bags and was written online as one of the "must have" products. My product is unique and a must have and it's never been seen before on this platform. Jay with all the information I just gave to you what do you think I should include in my 30 second pitch.

Mgoodman- My story is that today more people are entertaining at home and love to experience a little of the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Blingware is made affordable to give everyday people a chance to experience that lifestyle. Every woman know that when entertaining at home the table setting is what people will talk about. So I designed a flatware that is glamorous that will "WOW" every guest. Blingware is artwork. it's functional and a conversation piece. Mgoodman with all this information what part you would make the benefit story and what part would you make the packaging(dazzle & personality). Please explain. Please respond ASAP. Thanks to All.

Hi Nicole, just to let you know that scripting is not quite my best, but here you go:

" At home, in the dinning table is where we all share PRECIOUS moments of our lives. And why not turn it into a little piece of HEAVEN, adding ELEGANCE and STYLE to it?

Now for you who's got CLASS and GOOD TASTE... 'Tiiiiime to Treat Yourselves! (Very cheerfully and happy)

BLINGWARE - They are CUTTING EDGE knives (pause, show knife) ... If it's a dinner party, you'll want a FORK that WORK... (pause, show fork) ... Or as my friends say... 'I'm over the MOON with these SPOONS! (pause, show spoon)

So go on and visit www.blingwareonline.com and bring out that celebrity in you... cos as we at Blingware like to say: It's a LIFESTYLE, so SHOW IT! "

    ....

Feel free to change it as you wish, or even burn it down. But if you like it, you will have noticed that I've highlighted the most important words that should be stressed and pronounced slowly. These are working as connecting ideas to what you want the public to picture in their heads. Be really careful with what and how you say them, because you don't want to exclude anyone; on the contrary, you want the public to say... "Hang on, Im one of them. I want Blingware too!".

Now a little tip for you: If your site is really the one I mentioned above, I will have to be very honest with you and say that it is not working. Your product range is simply beautiful, but the website is backfiring on the elegance and stylish end, devaluating your product lots. If I'm a customer willing to spend $10,000 in a shop, the shop will have to deliver in terms of appearence.

The site needs a makeover desperately. Have a look:

    https://www.twelve4.com/20-elegant-clean-websites.html

    https://www.tiffany.com/

for ideas about how to match your products with a suitable site platform.

Good luck and if you got any more questions, you can email me at: [email address deleted by staff]

Nicole - In your response to us all, you've provided all the key bits of your presentation:

"...Every woman know that when entertaining at home the table setting is what people will talk about..."
"...flatware that is glamorous that will "WOW" every guest. Blingware is artwork.."
"...has been in numerous magazines, The Grammy's Award Show, Canada Film Festival, and Latin person of the Year Award show..."
"...experience the life of the rich and famous"

You might say: "Everyone knows that when entertaining at home, the table setting is what people will notice. So, start your party off with a "WOW" - a table setting that is functional artwork. Make every guest feel glamorous eating with Blingware - as featured in numerous magazine and the Grammy Awards."

I would put the song at the beginning.

This song or comment put at the end using your tagline ("It's a lifestyle show it").

If you care about style, people will know it; the minute you bring out Blingware and show it. They will know this is more than just ordinary cookware because it has flair. It's a lifestyle. So be proud to show it!
