Free Pictures To Use For Marketing?

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Our company (like most right now) is on a tight budget however I still need to get my marketing pieces done. Does anyone know of some websites where I can get free pictures besides flickr.com?

Thanks in advance.

    Take a look at: https://search.creativecommons.org/
There's a list of content directories available at: https://wiki.creativecommons.org/Content_Curators

    Dear Valmeida,

You could also try these sources:

    www.freefoto.com
    www.freedigitalphotos.net
    www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/free-pictures-online-get-online-pictures-free- download.html

For cheap images, I suggest www.istockphoto.com. I've used them for three years or more and they're excellent.

One note of caution on using images from Flickr and other sources such as Wikipedia. Beware of and respect the notion of copyright and only use images under the terms of creative commons.

It sounds like common sense, but you'd be stunned how many people ignore the copyrights of others. See details below.

    www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

    I hope these resources help.

I agree... istockphoto.com is the place to go. Not free, but nearly. They have a "dollar bin" of images on sale, and most images can be purchased, all rights included, for between $5 and $15. They have a good search system and also carry sound files, video files and vector illustrations in addition to photos.

Amazingly, Microsoft clip art has a stock of some pretty decent free photos. https://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/default.aspx

I recommend that you stay way from their cheap looking clip art though and stick to the photos.

    All the best!

I might also suggest Stock Xchng at www.sxc.hu/ where everything is free (though sometimes attribution is required) and of mixed quality. Its sister site, Stock Xpert www.stockxpert.com, offers more consistently professional imagery, and licensing can be had for anywhere from, like, $1 to $5, depending on image resolution desired.

    Sorry dear,

You can't have your cake and eat it too :)

You want FREE but you are complaining that others are using them :)

You get what you pay for.

I highly recommend istock and photolia, plenty of great images for $1.00 a go and if your designers are creative they can do a little photoshop work on them and create something new and exciting.

    Good luck.

    Matthew
