Marketing High End Bicycles

Hi,

We are trying to market bicycles from a leading manufactures ranging from 10k to 20k.

They are really cool looking cycles with a studier frame and better features. Though they aren't as good as a firefox or trek, given the price range, they still are a good buy.

We are targeting all of India for sales.

Would be great if you could help with innovative ideas for events/ambient ads/etc.

    it is important that we understand the price point here. 10k to 20k? is that in US $$?

    how does that compare to other high end bicycles in India?

    In US market, there are several high-end commuter bikes selling into certain niche markets, i.e., Civia, among other.

    price v. value proposition has to be somewhat in the ball park in order for this sales to work. if you want to sell a very high priced product, you must have some other cache that will make up the luxury pricing.

    Do you mean $10,000 (which would be one heck of a bicycle) or rupees (about $200-$400 US)?

    The first step I would do is to look at the features you have and figure out what benefits these features provide to the potential customers. Sturdier frames is a feature, where the benefit is that the bike would survive longer. 9 speed shifting would be a feature, but the benefit would be easier to ride. Front suspension is a feature, but the benefit would be more comfortable to ride.

    Benefits are what you need to promote to customers. You need to tell them why they would be better off spending more money for your bike over buying one of the cheaper bikes out there.

    Testimonials; donating or raffling bicycle(s) throughout market (or market segments) can help get the word out,but like Peter said above--turn features into benefits, benefits, benefits!

    Its Rs. 10k to 20k.

    No these bicycles arent as good as a cannondale and bianchi. In terms of features, they are built with alloys, have studier frame and cool looking. However these features arent as refined as the ones offered by international players in the same price range.

    make a "find the treasure" game in bicicle where people have to make it by rinding from spot to spot with clues along the way...
