Ideas To Reach Target Consumer For A Toy Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I would like to introduce myself as a marketing executive of a wooden toy manufacturing company. We have our first set of products ready and to promote them we have designed a booklet series targeted at children of age group 3-9 yrs. Now we want to reach as many children as possible. But apart from playschools/preschools we can't think of any suitable place to reach them. There could be places like play parks or Malls but then there is a lot of chance that the booklet will not reach its target. So, please suggest me any specific idea for its distribution. Or any other technique for promotion which you feel would be suitable for this kind of product.

sounds like you have a great start .. here are a few questions ...

what would the booklet (or sample thereof) look like on the web?
is there a network of social media sites that specifically targets kids and/or parents of kids?
is there any kind of video game play potential with this project?

the web is a distribution and lead generation idea, even for "hands on" play.

    Thanks for your interest steve.

The booklet is a small sample haing 5 inserts showing pics of our products and how it can be used(played). I was actually looing for ideas on distributing them physically to target consumer (i.e. children 3-9). Even your idea for social sites for kids sounds great but i will have to find out this.
and about vedio game..no not yet.

Your target market is actually the parents (and grandparents, etc.) of the 3-9 year olds. Why not consider mothers' clubs, after school programs, childrens' magazines, independent toy stores, etc.

I'm confused, are you trying to sell the wooden toys or the booklet?

If you are trying to sell the wooden toys, what about selling them through toy stores?

Is the booklet going to be interesting to kids or is it really meant for the parents to read? Have you considered daycare programs and camps? These might be good places to reach either the parents or the kids. If you gave a sample to various daycare facilities, it would give the kids a chance to test your product while they are there, making them more likely to ask their parents for one of their own. You may also get some valuable feedback from the employees that can be used for making any necessary improvements to your line.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your interest. We have already tested them in various independent toy stores and have received good response. Now our concern is to promote them and one of the medium we are looking at is through these booklet series. Its mainly of interest to children. Yes Jay, ur point is well taken that our target could be their parents hence these places.

thanks for your response. We have these day care centres in scheme of things. The reason for we targetting is same as you have explained.

The old fashioned method - get the booklets into Dentist's offices. Or as give-aways to Mommie bloggers as part of a freebies sent by other marketers. Or get it put in packages sent from ecommerce stores targeting moms/children.
