Client Has 2 Different Specialities How To Split

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
My client is an event planner specializing in wedding planning and corporate events. She also does Mitzvahs. Any suggestios how to split up her website especially the home page so anyone searching can then be directed to more specialized information.

Ex: Home Page
Corporate Weddings Mitzvahs
Click on it and go to pages about that topic.

The entire website has to be reworked. Second question who is the best host and where can I get the best templates?

Thanks.

I would omit the Events link and designate separate links for Wedding Planning and Mitzvahs/Celebrations so people know that if they click on wedding planning, information will be available within that area. The same for mitzvahs.

If these are her two focuses, I would basically create two separate sections within the main website so people don't "travel" to an area that has nothing to do with where their interests lie.

As for host, I'm a longtime user of lunarpages and have been happy with its performance. It has a program called Coffeecup that helps you develop sites, although I have my own designer create my visual presence.

Given the difference in audience, I'd suggest 3 different websites - one for each of the 3 specialties. Same contact information. Different copy. Different graphics. Then advertise each to different target markets to avoid confusion.

I agree w/ Jay. I would highly recommend getting SEO done for each site -- probably a lot of her business comes through a web search. She may want to start a blog (on something like party planning tips) -- so she can create links to each of her 3 websites.

    Dear mason_danielle,

Putting all your client's needs, skills, and offerings on ONE site is a recipe for confusion, disaster, and downfall.

So you need THREE SITES, one focusing on wedding planning, one focussing on corporate events, and one focusing on Mitzvahs. Doing this will make tracking results, expenditure, marketing, and sign up far easier, your overall look will be smoother, and the credibility factor will increase dramatically as a result.

YOUR CLIENT IGNORES THIS ADVICE AT HER PERIL!

Bundle it all together and the result will be chaos. As for templates, there are several great sites. Just Google the term "website templates" and see what pops up on page one.

    I hope this helps.
