I'm A Marketing/advertising Major And Confused...

I'm trying to figure myself out in this enormous business. What are some great tools of the trade? Some beginners advice? I know this is all very vague, but imagine what I'm thinking. Any guidance into the world of marketing and advertising would be much appreciated.

    Thank you all so much. I am very excited to begin my career in marketing. Something about being able to show at least one person how their life could benefit from something I'm telling them about excites me a lot.

    In Regards to Phil: As to staying a generalist, I shall, because I'm really to new to this to decide now what I might be good at. Thank you.

    In Regards to Andy: Ok I'll start looking in my area to see what's available to work with. I'm going to try and get a small part job at a company here while going to school this semester. Maybe jump around to a few different types of marketing firms over the next 2 years.

    In Regards to BarQ: That's going to be fun. Throw Philosophy in there and you have my 4 favorite studies during my primary schooling and G.E. at college
