Help! Grand Opening Ideas For A Game/movie Store.

I am in charge of the promotions for the Grand Opening our a game/movie/music store located in a large shopping mall. Does anyone have an creative ideas to draw attention to the location before and during the first month?
I was thinking of a publicity stunt that drew photo opportunities and created an excited buzz.
Being that it is entertainment we are selling, not just a single product, I am stuck with a visual scheme to draw attention.

Ideas I have so far include:
-People dressing in character costumes handing out balloons.
-live band inside(acoustic)
-Having a sneak preview night for friends/family/vip
-Free popcorn and sodas that weekend

I really need something visual out front to create buzz...like a huge white banner with a '?' over the logo, or a wrecked car with a mock giant scale item fallen on it.

Any crazy ideas are welcome....the more bizarre the better.

    How about a Guitar Hero marathon staged in front of the store window--Players sign up inside beforehand, names and order selected at random. Grand winner gets the game of his/her choice (or tickets to a concert venure and & donation to charity of choice; other winners get nominal $ donation to charity of choice. Play this up on YouTube asap--encourage local bands to play (if allowed by Mall mgmt/security/ownership). Who knows, some band out there just might be game enough to show up and really rattle the contest!!

    Get a commadore 64 and some games and invite people to play.

    Put a HUGE sign up announcing "THE LAMEST GAME" contest.

    Get a slip n slide and start gluing old cds/dvds to it and create a "mellow brick road"

    I had planned on doing the Guitar Hero tournament, but wasn't sure how to get the word out about it before opening other than fliers at the mall and music stores.

    I do like the idea of placing themed items throughout the mall to create interest and draw them to the store.

    I'll check with the mall for its rules on this.

    Get or make large standing cut outs of well-known movie or music singer, actors, or characters( Marilyn, Gww Stefani, Darth Vader, ET, Whitney Houston, Hugh Jackman )..place them in front of the store and either invite people to take pics or provide digital pics that can be:

    - downloaded there or
    - get their email and send it to them (good to start creating a database)

    You there can have a banner that says: "X Store..Where the stars hang out."

    Cheap and visually attracts the casual mall passerby and doesn't require lots of supervision.
