Launching A Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We're about to launch a new joint venture (financial services industry). This is going to be big news and i need ideas on how to launch it to initially, the employees and our partner. And what theme would be good (preferably something about CHANGE, MOVING FORWARD). so i would need ideas on:

1. theme/event title
2. gimmicks/events to launch/announce the new partnership.

Appreciate the help! Thank you so much.

    Hi Kath,

I couldn't disagree more with Phil in this occasions (I usually like his posts :-) ).

The type of event that you are proposing can be a great way to introduce the 2 companies to each other and start to synthesise the workforces into one unique team.

When 2 companies come together, there can often be a great deal of animosity between workers in similar positions within the different organisations.

Mis trust, fear, anxiety over job security, fear of changing work conditions and or schedules.

People don't like to be pushed outside of their comfort zone too often and a major upheaval of this type can be a big emotional stress for many workers.

This can lead to poor performance and, lost productivity and general lack of motivation throughout the workforce.

I would therefore suggest that this type of event is not only nice to have but may be absolutely essential to build trust, break don barriers and demonstrate to all that the LEADERSHIP is completely solid and on the same page.

if there is any sense amongst the general population that the leadership is not fully in agreement together about the direction that the new entity should go, then you are in for trouble. Therefore, the 'Leadership' MUST attend this event and TOGETHER, demonstrate that htey are solidly in agreement on the way forward and the new changes and growth to be implemented.

    I suggest the following event.

    COMPANY CHRISTMAS PARTY IN AUGUST.

Who doesn't love a good Christmas party with games, food drinks and then half way through the company bosses get up and make their little motivational speeches etc.

keep it light but make sure that the games and events are structured in such a way hat al employees from both sides of the fence mix and mngle and get to know each other.

Make teams of 2 or 4 people but mae sure that the teams are composed of half from each entity that is merging (if possible).

Don't let the 2 sides set up opposing camps and compete against each other.

make sure the HR - development people from both camps really get together to plan a fantastic team building event and give away medals and prizes. Take plenty of pictures and video and put up all the videos of th medal awardings on Face Book or YouTube etc so all company employees can view then later.

Since it is a Christmas party, make sure there is a talent portion like 'America's got talent or 'Your company name IDOL' (souped up karaoke really).

It is not about getting wasted drunk but about breaking down barriers, team building and creating a creative atmosphere where people can shine at what they love to do.

Ultimately you are building Morale and Motivation.

    Good luck.

    Matthew
