Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points

Would appreciate candid comments - pro and con - regarding the following site https://www.collegekhabar.com .

Details about the project :
The content of this website is focusing on students from various colleges of Engineering and Management colleges of India.

Presently getting around 80-90 hits per day after last 15 days of the launch with around 30% bounce rate and 4 pages/visits .
Could some one also suggest how good that it ??

Many thanks

    Dear hemantraijain,

Tell people what the site is about. The phrase "Move with the information" is meaningless.

If it's a site for Engineering and Management students, tell people that your site is THE place for Engineering and Management students in India.

The "E-mail this page" link and your newsletter sign up page are too close together. Likewise, your "sign up for our newsletter" box offers no real incentive for people to sign up.

Offer people signing up some reason to give their e-mail address. You also need a box to collect people's names. This way, you build a database of e-mail addresses and names to market to.

You'd also do well to give a short paragraph explaining what people can find on your site.

    I hope this helps.

Think about your customers and what they are looking for. The customer is the one who will be using your website the most and it is they who you seek as new intake etc.

Most websites that I review here and in may other places are defined by their insistence on telling the viewer what they are about not what the customer is about. I see from the home page plenty of information about everything but the business that you are in. There is nothing to tell me why I should engage with you and for what purpose.

I have written a book on the subject which is available form Amazon and many other book websites around the world. Look up Internet marketing how to get a website that works for your business and you will find a local stockist. It is relatively inexpensive for the level of content.

Once you have improved the user experience you can focus on the optimisations and promotion.

There is no point committing resources and budget driving potential customers to your website if they cannot use it when they get there, conversely there is no point having the best website in the world if no-one can find it.

I wish you every success with your venture.

Regarding your traffic - the numbers are only important relevant to your goals. Are you simply trying to build traffic for advertising's sake? Are you trying to attract students? Get people's email addresses? Sell them something?

Focus on measuring your conversions of your traffic to your goals.
