Is there a good web site that stores advertising samples by industry category in the event we want to do some competititve analysis?

    You didn't specify what kind of advertising, but there's an archive of direct mail samples at:

    I think there's a free trial.

    For the category of direct mail advertising there is an archive titled "Who's Mailing What" that's located here:
    https://www.whosmailingwhat.com/ Many of us in the direct marketing business use this as both an idea store, a way to track mail marketing trends in a various industry categories, and a way to see which competitors are in the mailstream and what they are communicating.
