Need A Slogan For Communications

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I’m working on a slogan and would appreciate your help if you have time. I’m trying to create a quick, short sentence to convey the importance of communication/hearing/speech to keep us active and engaged in life. In other words, if someone can’t speak/hear/communicate effectively, they can feel left-out and become depressed and withdrawn. Remember, in brainstorming there are NO BAD IDEAS.

    Dear Christine

My neighbours are profoundly deaf and they are perhaps the best neighbours anyone could ask for, regardless of communications problems. Any effort which people make to render themselves better understood is appreciated but they do hate the idea of sloganising their impairment or trying to help them en-mass or as part of some pigeon-holed disability group.

I think that as part of your brainstorming you might bear that in mind. As your aim is laudable, it would be a pity if you fell foul of the more militant “Hearing Impaired” groupings who do not see their status as a disability or an impairment, but as something to celebrate as a “difference”

Personally, I find that attitude baffling as I don’t wish to find myself condemned simply because I want to make myself understood and as you have stated, facilitate communications.

Maybe, given the diversity of the not-quite-hearing-as–well-as-they-might community (My invention to try to avoid causing offense!) a slogan isn’t going to be a solution which will either appeal to them or get done the job you had in mind.

Hope this gives you some food for thought

    Christine,
I love the movie The Sandlot. James Earl Jones says "Baseball was life"

    So
Communication is life, don't miss out.

Christine - Who specifically are you trying to communicate to? Why? Is this for a business (are you selling a product/service), a non-profit (helping hearing impaired), or just a "good idea" that you're trying to promote to whoever will listen? What do you want people to do after reading seeing this slogan (contact you, visit their doctor, call a friend, talk to a neighbor, etc.)?
