Grand Opening Ideas For Multi-cultral Hair Salon

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are opening a multi-cultral hair salon in Princeton, NJ. The salon is in a very busy regional strip-mall. The concept is around value pricing for today's price conscientous customer. Does anyone have any interesting ideas around unique Grand Opening strategies that we could use? Our goal is to create traffic flow to the salon, gain brand identity as well as the ablity to stand out from the crowd.
Thanks for your great responses!

Why not start with a haircut-a-thon? Donate all (or a large %) of haircut fees to benefit specific local non-profits (homeless shelter? abused women's shelter? youth center?). That'll help on a number of fronts: free PR, co-marketing with non-profits, and positioning your business as caring for your community.

Host a "ladies night out." Do a quick workshop with great beauty tips (keeping your pretty on in tough times), serve drinks and snacks, and do a drawing for free makeovers. You can promote the ladies night out through a variety of channels. Perhaps people can enter your drawing through your website, opting in for promotional emails. This would help build your mailing list.

(*Reserve at least one of the drawing prizes as a "must be present to win" if you can. It's a real buzz kill if you've got a great bunch of folks together and the only winners aren't there!)
