RESPONSES

More info would provide a better answer.

If you have truly screwed up, remember the 3 R's of an apology, Remorse, Responsibility and Remedy. Lots of people remember the first 2, but forget the Remedy. If this is your scenerio, address it and move on. There isn't a company out there that hasn't screwed up along the way.

There are many negatives that can turned into a positive. If your competition is slamming you cause your price is too high -- you need to focus on the measurable benefit that demands the higher price.

Some negatives you should deal with, and some let lay. Dealing with some will just add fuel to the fire- and in the customer's mind, validates the negative.

    Suggest you read these:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_ad
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_campaigning

I would analyse your competitor's advertisements and see how the truth may be turned round to your benefit. Give an example and we can get more specific.

    Dear yarje_jun,

If the negative ads are aimed at you or your company, fight back with POSITIVE ads.

Under no circumstances ought you to enter into an AD WAR.

Marketing and advertising is NOT a contest to see which company can whizz the highest—a fact that too many advertisers never see, or that they neglect.

Maintain your integrity and run ads that tell the truth and let your customers decide.

This is the way all ads ought to run. The sad reality is that they're not. The world of politics is probably the worst offender.

So, "to thine own self be true" and screw the detractors!

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck to you.
