Dear Susana,

Were my wife and I visiting Portugal we'd come for the culture, the great wines, the food, the atmosphere, and the astonishing history.

We'd plan on staying for three months and we'd hire a care and we'd travel from Espinho, Aveirdo, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Covilha, and Viseu before heading up to Vila Real, Braga, and Viana do Castelo.

Then we'd fly to Lisbon and drive into Spain to visit Mérida, Seville, and Granada. We'd then drive to Alicante, Valencia, and visit my wife's cousin in Barcelona before heading back to Lisbon by way of Madrid and Toledo.

Then we'd head toward Beja and then on down to Tavira before heading west along the coast, taking in Faro, Vilamoura, Albufeira and Lagos before moving on to Sines and finally, back to the Costa de Estoril for some much needed R and R.

Accommodation wise we'd stay in small hotels and bed and breakfast places. We travel light (one bag each), something we've perfected over several years of travel between the US and Europe.
As Jay Leno says, there are to kinds of bags: carry on and lost.
