Grand Opening Ideas For 55+ Green Community

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I'm looking for some unique ideas to "launch" our 55+ single family home "Green" community. We've considered the typical ribbon cutting ceremony along with a series of soft openings...but I am looking for some ideas with a little more flair. Any suggestions?

    Located where?
    What makes your community "green"?
    What's your budget?
    Appealing to what demographics?

The more your share about your community, the more on-target we can be with suggestions.

We are located in NC and are catering to up-middle 55+ active senior adults.
Lots & home packages will start in the 300's.
Our homes will be built by a NAHB Certified Green builder and will also include universal design elements which caters to all levels of ability and disability. We use locally manufactured materials which means no unneeded energy is used to get materials to us. Our homes are well insulated - even better than code. We install water efficient plumbing features, tankless hot water heaters, and our heating and ventilation systems have higher SEER seasonal energy equivalence ratings. We also install Energy Star appliances and when it comes to the grounds...etc. We will also have a unique water feature flowing through the community with 6 total waterfalls.
There is no concrete budget as of yet...just looking for creative/unique..."purple cow" ideas.

How about working with a local non-profits (ideally serving your target demographic) and have them raffle off one of your homes (for example: https://www.mpdailyfix.com/2008/10/need_to_sell_a_house_raffle_it.html)? There's no risk, and plenty of chance for some great PR (and a new happy homeowner).
