Large-scale Sponsorship

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I work for an Australian non profit organisation. We are looking to obtain a large-scale advertiser/sponsor to help us fund one of our products. Our consumer is 90% of the market segment - so its quite an opportunity for advertisers. Unfortunately we've only just started to realise that marketing is essential to our fund raising - so we have no idea how to let people know that we are looking for sponsors/advertisers. I would appreciate any tips!

Thank you

I've been involved in a nonprofit most my adult life, and since I'm in sales, fundraising is always my responsibility.

I assume first you have developed levels of sponsorship or benefits to sponsor.

Attracting sponsors is also a board responsibility. And most successful with one on one contact. So sit down with all interested parties and start making the "hit list", of who knows who and where. Break up the responsibility by sponsor and send everyone off to the phone. Especially since this is your first time out for sponsors-- you need to find a champion who will cut through the company's "system" and get a cheque written.

The best advice I got at a nonprofit leadership conference on sponsors was to get the media sponsors first. They will help tremendously in getting the word out.
